NEWS FROM THE ACADEMY

A MESSAGE FROM DAVE SNUGGERED, EDUCATOR & FOUNDER OF BREAKAWAY ACADEMY

Breakaway Academy is dedicated to the growth of student athletes. By the time your son/daughter graduates from 8th grade they will be ready academically to attend the school of their choice, with hockey skills developed to play competitive high school hockey. Breakaway Academy will accomplish this through a traditional learning approach. Students will reach their goals through encouragement to excel independently and work cooperatively. By bringing their outside passion of hockey into the school day, your child will become more motivated to succeed both on and off the ice. Encouragement and opportunity to succeed are are what helped me earn a Master’s Degree in Education, a spot on the 1988 U.S. Olympic Team, two MVP awards at the University of Minnesota, and a successful career in the NHL.  Learning how to work for your goals is exactly what I want for your child. I will guarantee a great experience for your son/daughter when they attend Breakaway Academy, they will 'break away' from the pack academically and in hockey!  - Sincerely, Dave Snuggerud

Dave Snuggerud is the Director of Education for Breakaway Academy. After a successful college and NHL career, including a coveted spot on the 1988 U.S. Olympic Team, Dave is a teacher and coach and has more than 25 years of experience in both of his passions.

WHAT PARENTS HAVE TO SAY

"Marc and I both appreciate the environment you (Dave Snuggerud) and the coaches and teachers create at BA. I notice she has grown in leadership, self-advocacy, and independent thinking. Oh, she has also improved at hockey!"
-Josie Pettygrove, mother of Georgia,
6th grade student

"Hi Dave & Andy,
I just wanted to drop a quick note to tell you how amazing Joyce Thomas is. She goes out of her way to assist Reed and makes learning fun for him. She understands him as an individual. She is truly an extraordinary person and educator and I wanted you to know how much we appreciate her (I am sure you already know this but it is my two cents! Lol). Have a great day!"

-Amber Pass, mother of Reed, 5th grade student
